We had an excellent experience with Rough Guides! The absolute peace of mind to know there was someone at your fingertips 24-7 to help with any issues was fantastic! Our local contact even assisted us in navigating the system when I had to see a Dr. Every place we flew to, there was an English speaking driver to meet us at the airport, get us to our hotel and to our excursions. We will definitely use Rough Guides again, I would give them more than 5 stars if I could!

Fun and friendly guides made this solo trip a happy one. The team was brilliant at amending and helping with itinerary that excited me, they equally planned and executed it well. Felt safe and comfortable throughout. Local guide Samnop, at Siem Reap was awesome. Over all a great experience. Thanks to this brilliant team.

Unexpected Rome experience

Everything was great with the pickup and flight home. We were sad to leave Rome, but the experience was great. I would like to give you some feedback on the tour directly. Overall, the Unexpected Rome experience was fantastic. I have already commented on our first two days. The cooking experience was probably our most exciting day. I would encourage anyone wanting to get a taste of Rome to do so with this tour. We made several pastas in a beautiful villa in a Medieval town, and then of course we ate what we made, it was truly great. The next day, we went to Ostia. What a great experience! We knew nothing about these ruins, and the tour guide was again great. On our last day, probably our second favorite, we had just a wonderful time visiting outside of Rome and tasting local foods. Also went to a great winery (we brought some of the wines home). Overall, Marcia and I would rate the experience a 10 out of 10. It was truly fabulous. We love your country, the people, the food, the history. Thank you for bringing it so much to life for us.

Thailand

My husband and I always dreamt about a trip to Thailand and Rough Guides helped us putting together a perfect holidays. I messaged them with all things we would like to do - from yoga to scuba diving, temples, food, elephants, chat with monks! We had all mixed up and a personal trip advisor was so patient and knowledgeable and designed a total tailored private program for us. We went to Bangkok (Capella hotel), Chiang Mai (137 Pillars) and finally to Phuket (Rosewood). I just confess that we were a bit skeptical to pay all hotels and domestic flights directly to RGuides but everything went absolutely smooth. The local guides were so helpful - I guess that’s Thai hospitality anyway. We have packed the days too much with pre planned activities though. We ended up dropping one of the them (excursion to one of the islands near Phuket) so we could enjoy the hotel. We downloaded an app called grab a taxi (similar to Uber) and it was super easy to go everywhere with that. We also got a SIM card in the airport when we landed and had connectivity the whole period. I was hot spotting on my husbands phone and the solution worked for both of us. Avoid the temptation to have expensive massage in hotels. Best massage is at the streets! Can’t wait to travel with Rough Guides again :)

Birthday trip

Our experience was amazing. Very well organized. During our stay there was a problem with a Riad , Insight guides solved the problem in a very professional way. My birthday dinner at Inara Camp was magic, unforgetable . Ali our driver was exceptional. Funny, very polite, punctual, attentive, always available to help us and give us information about the places. The car was always clean

The best of Portugal: From Lisbon to Porto

We just wanted to give you some feedback on our itinerary. We were happy with all the hotels but especially enjoyed Melia Aeroporto. It was beautiful and the staff was professional. We had dinner there and enjoyed it. The breakfast was bountiful and delicious. We enjoyed all our stops and really enjoyed the Fado show. Boca do Inferno was a beautiful stop. Sintra was hard to access so we did skip it but stopped in Cas Cais briefly and thought it was lovely. The sailboat cruise was ok but it was drizzling and they didn't tell you what you were looking at unless you asked for that information. Porto was amazing and the wine cellar tour was wonderful. We enjoyed our meal at Escondidinho. Guimaraes was great and we enjoyed lunch there in the courtyard. Douro Valley was beautiful and the river cruise was well worth it. We had dinner at The Vintage House which was classy. The surrounding area was desolate at night. Next time we book with Rough Guides we would definately stay away from a standard transmission rental car. We appreciated your guidance and to know that you were accessible most times when we had questions. We had a great trip and thank you for all your knowledge. Will definitely recommend Rough Guides for future travel.
